ABOUT / XINGZHOU

Creator & Host of the Golden Age PodcastIndependent Researcher on China–Latin America Affairs

I am XingZhou, a content creator starting over after thirty.

I once worked at a media company, in public schools, nonprofit organizations, and local public-sector institutions in China. Those experiences taught me that history never truly recedes, and knowledge does not remain on the page. In the end, both shape the choices ordinary people can—or cannot—make.

I am now based in the Hangzhou–Yiwu corridor, where Chinese manufacturing, global trade, and individual lives converge. From here, I study the political histories, economic and trade relations, and cultural flows between China and Latin America.

The two regions are drawing closer, fast. I want to know: What will this convergence change? What new possibilities might it open for ordinary people on both sides?

I treat my own transition as a public experiment. Through essays and the Golden Age podcast, I document the doubts, judgments, and actions of young Chinese people as they venture into the wider world. I explore how history, institutions, and culture have shaped both regions and continue to shape the present, while sharing firsthand information from China’s foreign-trade front lines and real experiences of going global.

Golden Age does not refer to one particular era, but to the opportunity to reclaim the power to choose as the old order begins to loosen.

As the drive to go global gathers momentum, I want to enter the field, understand it, and help shape what comes next.
